The SB5.5 is where the trail, all-mountain and gravity bike intersect. Tried and tested under the likes of EWS champion Richie Rude and our in-house test team, this lightweight bike eats up grueling technical climbs and hauls going downhill. Forget any preconceived notions about 29ers, thanks to an impeccable frame design, shortened chain stays and aggressive suspension spec, this bike is easy to maneuver and feels lively and quick on the descents.
Utilizing the same design and geometry of the SB5.5 TURQ series, the SB5.5 Carbon offers similar stiffness and durability with a nominal 240 gram (0.5 lb) increase in weight. The SB5.5 Carbon is built to be responsive and lively, while still capable of withstanding punishing descents. Offered in two colors with two spec kits. The SB5.5 Carbon Series frames are 6.21 LBS (2.81 KG) and preserve performance at a more agressive price point.
The bikes 17.2 inch chainstays supporting the 29er wheel platform strike an optimal balance of stability and maneuverability. To achieve this shortened chainstay designers eliminated the front derailleur mount and utilized a Boost rear spacing, but still keept true to Yetis classic long geometry. To balance the bikes front end, we chose to use a long travel 51mm offset fork combined with a 66.5 degree head angle. This allowed us to precisely tune the bikes mechanical trail and wheelbase.
